Debt Settlement
Read through these Sample Debt Settlement letters for ideas on how to negotiate with your creditors and collection agencies. Then take that information and make the call! After you’ve negotiated a settlement that is in your best interest and one that you can afford, follow up by filling in your personal information.
Two things to remember….
1. Make sure you get the agreement IN WRITING! This is essential if you have negotiated to have negative remarks removed from your credit. You also want to document the exact terms of your agreement and be sure to keep copies of checks and bank statements to prove that you paid as agreed. If needed, you can use this information later on to dispute any mis-information with the credit bureaus.
2. Agents for collection companies get paid based on how much they collect during a calendar month. Some agents may be more likely to negotiate a more favorable deal with you if you can promise they’ll receive the negotiated payoff by the end of the month.
Be sure to use these tips in your negotiations and good luck! Leave me a comment if you have any questions…
